Jewar Airport: The largest airport in India

The Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) is ready to receive its second international airport. Jewar international airport is currently three years away from being complete, it will work with 70 million travelers in a whole capacity. On Thursday, there will be the ceremonial beginning of Jewar airport, which is officially called Noida International Airport. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid down the foundation stone of the airport on Thursday, 25 November.

Starting a long process of building the second airport in the Delhi-NCR region and making it the biggest in the country. The UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that it will be the first airport in Asia free from all kinds of pollution and the largest one in Asia. The airport encompasses 780 square kilometers of land – nearly four times the size of the entire city of Noida, which covers 203 square kilometers of area.

Jewar Airport’s location

The airport lies southeast of central Delhi, Gurgaon, and Noida and is almost at the halfway point to Agra, the home of the Taj Mahal. Away 90 kilometers (55 miles) from Delhi Airport and 85 kilometers from the center of the city. One of the important points which this airport focuses on is connectivity. The airport will be connected to the Delhi Metro system, which is the most modern in the world. Also, Jewar Airport lies inches away from the Yamuna Expressway, which makes the journey from central Delhi take just 90 minutes.

Although Indira Gandhi International Airport made travel easier for those people in Delhi and Gurgaon, it left out several communities in the wider National Capital Region (NCR). Noida International Airport’s location will give easy access to Noida’s residents, the industrial hubs, and surrounding cities.

Noida Airport with seamless connectivity

Jewar Airport will be slowly finished, the first set is expected to open in September 2024, with two runways and a terminal for 12 million passengers. Although this slow would be seen as not good, this will get a huge benefit, that Delhi became very crowded and rose in passengers’ demand. Jewar airport will be very well equipped for increasing demand and designed better to serve seamless connectivity services to passengers. By finishing the fourth phase the airport is planned to gain 70 million travelers yearly with five active runways.
